Welcome to my spelling blog! Here you will find a variety of resources to help your child with their spelling at home. You will be able to find everything from videos to games to other online resources here. Although we use some of these resources in our classroom there are many more here to provide different practice at home.

Spelling is an important foundational skill for your child's writing. Although there are a lot of good resources on this blog, reading with your child every day will help improve their vocabulary and spelling by exposing them to lots of words.   The website Spelling training ( https://www.spellingtraining.com/ ) is another great resource to practice spelling at home. There are so many great ways to practice spelling on this website. To start you can enter your own spelling list or choose from one of their pre-made ones. The ones that they offer are sorted by grade level and broken down into different spelling rules. There are hundreds of pre-made lists on the site but if you do not find one that you like, you can always make your own list. Here is what the drop-down menu looks like and all you have to do is click on whatever sleeping rule you would like to practice and it will make the list for you. Once a spelling list is set up there are a wide variety of activities to do with the words. The website Education.com ( https://www.education.com/games/spelling/ ) offers a lot of great resources and games for all subjects. Since this is a spelling blog I will highlight the different spelling games that they have to offer. When you press the link about you will see the page with all of the spelling games that looks like this: This page has all of the spelling games that they have to offer. You can either look through those games or sort the games using the menu on the left side. You can sort the games by grade level, spelling strategies (which includes sight words) and spelling patterns (there are so many!!). Here is one of my favorite games for sight words ( https://www.education.com/game/irregular-sight-words/ ). This game is great for students who have mastered regular sight word spelling but are still having some trouble with those irregular words: A lot of these games use both visuals and well as sounds which appeals to a wide variety of learners....
